Soda Drinking


Ok I was at work yesterday and there was a patient that came in and was telling us how much soda she drank....


2 -- 2 Liters

2 -- 32 oz

6 -- cans

and she goes to bed with a 2 liter .


So Danae and I are not bad!!! But of course water is best (if it is flavored)!!!

Anyone wanna run?

Ladies,

I have decided Saturday is my running day. I am going to go at 7:30 at the golf course down the hill from me. If you want to come just meet me there at 7:30 (okay, so if I know someone else will be there it will help me get my sorry booty out of bed so please come!) I have never really ran the golf course so it will be a new experience for me (i.e. don't expect the first time to be a well thought out plan of where to go--I will be a little like Phoebe on Friends trying to follow Rachel--but to her own drummer arms and legs flapping in the wind--I kind of live that philosophy in general).

Anyway, that is that. I would not be opposed to moving it to 8:00 if people would want to :)
I am hoping to make this a weekly thing (minus Spring Break next week) so come one, come all.

Want to Run Fast? Run Uphill

See the left column for the running term of the week and a great article about increasing your speed by running uphill. I have started and only after two weeks I can actually see an improvement in my running times. So give it a try..

Exercise Class - Date Extended

The exercise class held at the church will be extended until Tuesday, May 20th. That will be the last class and afterwards we will be having a brunch. All Thursday Yoga class members are also invited. Call DeEtte for more information on the brunch.

Next weeks classes are cancelled due to Spring Break.

First Group Run a Huge Success!!





..........I want to thank everyone for coming to our first group run/walk. We had eleven people come. Yeah!! A big thanks to Candice for being our cheerleader as we were running and taking the pictures. We missed all of you who couldn't come(or just chose to sleep in- ha! ha!) and look forward to running the May 17th race with you..

Lessons from the MP3 player

I hope I didn't make DaNae cry by not showing up this morning for the walk/run. When my alarm went off, I heard the wind howling and knew it was too early and too cold. What a wimp I am! I hope it was a success, and really, I'll try to make it out for the next one, I promise.

But even though I didn't come and walk with the group, I did get up pound out three miles on the treadmill. And while panting along wishing I was done, I gleaned some wisdom from my mp3 player.

First, while listening to Keith Urban, I heard these lyrics:

Every step I take
I get a little less afraid
Of giving into love

Believe me when I say
It gets better every day
Once you get used to the pain


I'm thinking that's what exercise is--getting used to the pain. And with every step I take, I get a little less afraid. Wow! That's some pretty deep stuff.

The next song was Maroon 5, and I could really sympathize when I heard:

Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe

Does it kill
Does it burn


Yes, it does burn, and it does kill, and I wish I were off of this treadmill, and it IS getting harder and harder to breathe. Thankfully, I was almost done with my 3 miles (Hooray for me! 3 Miles!) and I didn't wax theoretical about any more songs.
